Recipe: Sesame Snap Peas


This is the simplest, most delicious recipe — and it's perfect for satisfying your craving for something salty and crunchy (ahem, potato chips...).

Ingredients (serves about 3):

  • Fresh sugar snap peas (8 oz)
  • Sesame oil (1 teaspoon)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (1/2 tablespoon)
  • Salt (1/4 teaspoon)

Clean the snap peas and remove the "string" that runs along the top of of the pod. To do this, you can either use your fingernail or a small paring knife, hold the pea pod so that the curve looks like a smile and trim the corner of the pod and pull the string that's attached to it across the pod to remove it (you can also buy stringless peas, just make sure you still check them as some will have a little leaf on them still!). Dry the pods off, put them in a bowl, add sesame oil, sesame seeds, salt and toss.
